Contarini
Originally from a set of tapestries carrying the arms of the Contarini a distinguished Venetian Family. The tapestry depicts an imaginary landscape, relating to the northern Italian lifestyle of spending the summer months in the family villa, a tradition known as “Villeggiatura”. This design exemplifies the taste of Venetians for surrounding themselves in their city homes with verdure (decorations depicting mostly green foliage and flowers). The Contarini tapestry was woven in Brussels, before 1589, from the tapestry workshop of Joost van Herzeele.
From the original tapestry we have selected a beautiful crop suitable for upholstering a bedhead.
